We’re here. We finally arrived about 9:30pm at our destination in the hills of Eastern Kentucky.  A little longer on the road than we planned, but sometimes you can’t plan for traffic jams and what a winding WV road will do to a Stamey’s BBQ sandwich in the pit of a Middle Schooler’s stomach.  Food trucks?  Meet the food van!

Clean up

But it’s all good.  Really good.  Cole slaw wasn’t the only thing overflowing on this ride.  The grace and compassion our middle schoolers showed to their friends was amazing.  They took it in stride, offered hugs, and understanding, and this bump in the road became for us the bright light along the road.  And while we weren’t traveling to Damascus, we definitely experienced the Lord’s presence, even if we only realized it later tonight at our devotion as Debbie Garner pointed out the acts of compassion and kindness she saw evident in these young people from FBC.

And the Messiah?  Well, we’re looking for the Messiah this week, in ourselves and in each other.  Maybe you can look too.  Will we find the Messiah?

We’ll keep you posted.
